too bad you don't seem to be big on the giving credit part (please read [link] for more info)

Ok, I read your opinions link. It's been a long time since I did this one, so if you know of anyone who made the pieces of this one, I would be glad to credit them with their contribution. Lions, castles, and wolves are in short supply around my community. It was not my intention to offend, just to make some art.

As for legalities, if you change an image (even a simple graphic) more than 10%, it's yours. An extreme example would be Sherrie Levine's work. I don't agree with how far she took it, but she's a legit, famous artist. In other words, the work is mine.

ROFL-what?! "As for legalities, if you change an image (even a simple graphic) more than 10%, it's yours." this is the dumbest stuff I've ever read.

It's called COPYRIGHT because no one has the RIGHT to COPY (or use) anything someone else has created without explicit permission. You're a thief of you think it's ok what you do. Even if you gave credit you would be not allowed to put this up.

See:
FAQ #8: What are violations of the deviantART copyright policy?
FAQ #157: Can I use things created by other people in my submissions?
FAQ #217: What are "Stock Photos" and can I use "Stock Photos" in my submissions?

If you cannot abide by this then dA is not the place for you. By signing up you agreed to the Terms of Use and this is not debatable. No matter what you may think.

If you have any more questions concerning copyright, please contact the +help desk.

Ah, I was misinformed as to DA's policies. My mistake for not reading it. Again, it was not my intent to offend, just to make some art.

it's not just a dA policy that you can't just grab whatever you like. It's US and internaional law. You may want to read about about that.

I took your advice and read about it. The laws are still pretty vague as to what changing a text (aka image, website, or other created works) "substantially" means. The best (and safest) policy is to get the owner's permission. The burden of responsibility relies on the person using it to obtain the permission, but I do wonder why you want me to list all the resources we get images from in my description? If it's from someone at dA, then I get it- it helps the community. If the original photographer isn't a part of the community, and I do have the rights to reproduce it, am I supposed to prove it?

for one, yes. you're supposed to be able to prove it. On dA, if you don't credit the original you effectively claim you shot the image yourself --> stealing.
for two, crediting is most often something that is required in the ToS for you to be allowed the use in the first place. So if you don't credit when someone stated you need to in order to use an image, it's stealing once again.

You can blend stocks together well but there needs to be a common lightning setup amongst them and good color combinations. Try reading up on lightning and color theories.
