Thank you for being the first :aww:
Only the people who are critiqued get the resulting PSD file.

youtube Icon Author's Note:
It was fun to do a critique like this because I was able to show what I mean instead of just describing it. Plus I was able to show what could be done technique-wise which in "normal" critiques can be a pain in the ass (describing what you would do when you don't know how the one getting the critique works and how much they know and what you need to explain -- this way you just show it way faster than you could ever explain it in writing). I hope it's actually helping; it might be a bit on the rambling side ^^;

youtube Icon I hope to make this a series,
so if you are interested in a critique, please note me with three deviations of yours to choose from (so I can choose the one I have the most to say about). I cannot guarantee you will actually receive a critique and there will be no set schedule because my daily life tends to wreck any plans of doing stuff like this on a regular basis. Also please note that I will not be putting you on an ordered list (but on an unordered one) meaning I will critique what feels like a good idea instead of going by who was first. I hope you will understand that.

Ahw this is super awesome!! I am so happy to have been your guinea pig!!!! I have never thought about actually going over my hair to shade and highlight it. I've been wondering about it, but with softlight it never seemed to look right. So I love the multiply layers!! Something awesome I haven't thought of yet actually. I'm definitely going to update this piece with the highlight and shadows advice. As for the bazar lighting, I was trying to make it so it looks like it is coming from the mid front, but I now now for composition and lighting purposes I chose the wrong model. No prob thought, will just change it to suite the more obvious lightsource better. And as for the red on her top, the top is suppose to look like it has blood on also. But I think what messed it all up is the motion blur I tried do at the bottom. Yeah that's not suppose to look like a glow coming of of everything, it's suppose to look like she moving. BUt I see now I need to do a bit more research to achieve that effect.

OH and there's one thing we definitely agree on when it comes to teaching others the 'right' way, SOFT LIGHT LAYERS and SOFT ROUND BRUSH!! Hahaha...

No but this was really super awesome!! I laughed so hard at some spots, it's so awesome to hear somebody who you have known for a whiles voice for the first time. It brings so much more of the close personal feel to this community. And that's what my inspiration was for doing the videos. I want people to see that I am not some snobby nose in the air know it all. I am just a person, a geek at that, and for them to feel that kind of belonging that I do in this art world of ours.

So yeah, I am very ahppy about this, I hope I started a revolution, lol.

will comment the rest on the other video clip.... :heart:

So glad it helps :hug: And I definitely agree with the personal touch, it's fun to hear the voice complete with accent (and uhms :giggle:). Plus for me it's easier and in a way less time consuming to do a video than write the critique out. I kinda hope others may want one, too :giggle:

Now I want to know what had you laughing :D (Oh maybe I know: it was the boob-centric part, eh?)

Yeah, the moving effect got lost completely. As did the blood on her blouse ;) And I think the light source doesn't work in this context also because she is looking to our right, which would suggest to me the car is there - why would she be NOT staring at the car? - and so should the headlights.

First yes I agree. I have been using this technique to teach the guys I mentor in PM for about 8 months now. I found it much more efficient and productive than having to explain everything in words. Besides I am not good with putting my thoughts into writing, so alot of what I am trying to say goes lost when I have to write a critique. I think I'm going to follow you with this movement what concerns the future critiques I do.

Hahaha, yeah that was the one part!! The boobs thing. When you said well the boobs will be the centre of attention with the composition like that, I went well whats wrong with that!! Hahaha, atleast all men will like my work, hahahaha... No but it was awesome. And thanks for the awesome compliment about my brush work with the hair... Yeah painting hair is kinda like my thing, it's the one thing I feel like I can actually do pretty well....

And about the lighting issue, I agree with you. I think I tried to force something that's could be and in the process didn't see the more obvious and impactfull approach. But as I said, I'm gonna work on this and then see what you say then. THis was really very helpful!!!
