I've been at this for a few days on and off now. Each time I needed a break from studying I came back to it... and most times I ran into one direction until I had to go to bed and coming back to it didn't like it all that much anymore, so there was much trying and throwing away involved here.
It started out with a stock pic of a girl holding a flower... then I got rid of the girl only keeoping the flower... added a statue and a different girl - got rid of the flowers and statue in favour of the frame you see here, which was supposed to go well with the girl... but the girl just wouldn't fit, so I needed something else for the frame... and that's just a part of the things I tried...

So, tell me if you like it or if you don't like it. I really wanna hear what you might find off about it or something, BUT don't expect me to go running into PS to change anything... this has taken long enough as is. I'll keep anything you have to say in mind for future pieces though, so by all means, have a go ;)

as well as various textures and an old render from my own stash and a neat canvas texture ^nighty gave me.

Ahh! I absolutely love this! I'm a sucker for ships anyway, and the way you pulled everything together with the flowers and the texture is just beautiful... I think the render works very well under the texture and that the framing is just right! This would make a gorgeous wallpaper ;D

This work makes me think of ancient Japanese tapestries, even though the ship is not exactly of Japanese descent (at least, I'm not entirely sure). I really love the rough and beaten down texture of the overall piece. The colors are especially interesting since you decided to keep the more vibrant tones for the "frame", almost as if it was a doorway to another world.

I'm not entirely certain, though, that the lyrics fit so well with the image. The "sail away" verse obviously applies well, but the rest seems a bit out of place. However, there's nothing wrong with the piece itself.

I think it looks better without the girl, even if I didn't see the piece with the girl in it. I'm used to putting some sort of human figure in my works so it's strange for me to say that. haha.

Anyway, I love it. :]

yeah, songs tend not to fit perfectly if you first do the art and then the song pops in your head when you're about to upload it :giggle:
